Lagos-Ibadan rail: FG orders demolition of Apapa station


The Federal Government on Monday directed the contractor handling the new Lagos-Ibadan railway project, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, to extend its work from Ebute Meta to Apapa as part of measures to facilitate the movement of goods from the Lagos seaports to other parts of the country by rail.
Although the extension is in the second phase of the standard gauge railway project, the government said the decision to bring it forward was informed by the need to address the near stagnation of import and export business due to the gridlock on roads leading to Apapa and the Lagos seaports.

70-Year-Old Man Dies In Police Custody After Alleged Brutality By SARS

A 70-year-old native doctor, Musa Ardo, has died in the custody of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, after he was allegedly brutalised by the squad. Trouble started for Mr Ardo, also known as Filani Dankali, when a disappearance amulet he sold to one of his client suddenly disappeared from the client a few days after purchase. HERRERA BACKS MARTIAL TO RULE THE WORLD

Anthony Martial can be "one of the best players in the world", according to Manchester United team-mate Ander Herrera . Martial had a frustrating second season under Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford - scoring nine goals in 18 starts - leading to him being left out of France's World Cup-winning squad and linked with a move away.
